Biographical/historical: Advertisement is signed by Mary Wollstonecraft, who translated the work while making it an English story.
Biographical/historical: "The German original ... Moralisches elementarbuch, was published in Leipzig in 1785. It was illustrated with seventy plates; designed and engraved by Chodowiecki. Forty-nine of these were redrawn by Blake for the translation, one, numbered 20 ... being, however, somewhat altered from the original. He added two more of his own designing ... plate 27 ... plate 28." cf. Grolier Club, Catalogue of books by William Blake.
