Biographical/historical: Advertisement is signed by Mary Wollstonecraft, who translated the work while making it an English story.
Biographical/historical: "The German original ... Moralisches elementarbuch, was published in Leipzig in 1785. It was illustrated with seventy plates; designed and engraved by Chodowiecki. Forty-nine of these were redrawn by Blake for the translation, one, numbered 20 ... being, however, somewhat altered from the original.
