Binding: Dark brown morocco, gilt, signed by Charles Lanoë, del.-r.d., ca. 1910. On upper right front cover are inlays of dark red and various shades of light brown and gray morocco with black and blind fillets, depicting a flying ghost carrying a bloodstained scythe. Doublures of gray morocco with border and corner ornaments inlaid in dark brown morocco and gilt, black and blind fillets. Endleaves of dark brown watered silk and fly leaves of marbled paper. Original light gray illustrated paper covers and backstrip bound in. In brown leather lined slipcase covered in marbled paper with edges of dark brown morocco.
Illustrations: 30 prints from 15 plates : etching, mezzotint, b&w ; full-page. Printed on Japan vellum by Porcabeuf Frères. Each print in 2 states; the early state is before the addition of mezzotint. -- 30 photomechanical prints : heliogravure, b&w ; various sizes. Comprise 15 decorated initials and 15 tail-pieces, printed by Ducourtioux and Huillard.
