Description
Burton Lane, a composer whose popular and successful works include "Finian's rainbow" and "On a clear day you can see forever" speaks about the early manifestation of his talent; collaboration with Al Dublin (a talented lyricist with a drinking problem); a contract with J.J. Schubert when he was only 15 which the Schuberts did not honor and cheated him out of his royalties; his and Harold Adamson's (a gifted lyricist) move to California and work at Metro (film studio); collaboration with songwriter Frank Loesser; move back to New York and partnership with Yip Harburg; return to Hollywood where wartime musicals boom began and creative reunion with Harburg; prominent people in show business such as the brothers Gershwin, Fred and Adele Astaire, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Jerome Kern, Alan Jay Lerner etc. and their works: their successes and failures, and much more.
