A post-performance Q&A panel moderated by Andrea Snyder, Executive Director of Dance/USA. Panelists include: Merce Cunningham, choreographer; David Vaughan, archivist of the Merce Cunningham Dance Foundation; musician Christian Wolff; percussionist William Winant and dancers John Beaucaire [?], Jennifer Goggans, Andrea Weber, as well as a fourth dancer whose name was unintelligible. Topics in order of discussion include: Merce Cunningham speaks about the evolution of his choreography, particularly the use of technology and "change operations"; the creation of the sound pattern in Sounddance; the differences between the original staging and restaging of Sounddance; the ways in which dancers find a common choreographic and performance connection when performing; Merce Cunningham talks about his process of collaboration with musicians, including John Cage; the dancers discuss differences between performing historical and new works; the use of software in Cunningham's choreography and the recreation of historical dances.
