Tatiana Leskova speaks with Katy Matheson about her family background and childhood; studying with Madame Lubov Egorova in Paris and performing with the Opéra-Comique de Paris and the Ballets de la Jeunesse; more on Egorova and some of her students including Mia Slavenska; Leskova's strengths as a dancer; joining Educational Ballets, Ltd. [later the Original Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo] and the first season in London; her impressions of Michel Fokine and his wife, Vera; other company members including Irina Baronova; more on Fokine; her impressions of Alicia Markova and Tatiana Riabouchinska; her thoughts on Fokine's ballets; the outbreak of World War II; dancing in George Balanchine's Balustrade and in his Concurrence; performing with the Original Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo in Australia including in David Lichine's Graduation ball and his Pavillon; briefly, Tamara Toumanova; touring in the United States and Cuba; the company strike and Lucia Chase's invitation to join Ballet Theatre; her impressions of Colonel Wassily de Basil; Sol Hurok; more on Balanchine and Balustrade; her memories of Igor Stravinsky [ends abruptly].
