Description
Dancer Paula Weber, now an assistant professor in the dance program of the University of Missouri Kansas City and a member of Leni Wylliams's Wylliams/Henry Danse Theatre in Kansas City, discusses her education and career. After graduating from Butler University in Indiana, where she studied ballet with George Verdak, she danced with Chicago's Lyric Opera Ballet under the leadership of Maria Tallchief, then with the Milwaukee Ballet in choreography by artistic director Jean-Paul Comelin and others. She performs with the Berkshire Ballet while continuing her activities in Kansas City. She compares the different schools of ballet (e.g., Cecchetti, Royal Academy of Dancing, Russian, Balanchine) she has studied in the course of her career, and describes the motivations that keep a dancer performing through injury, illness, and other adversity.
