Ownership : Belonged since 18th century to Marquess of Lothian; his sale (1932) to G. Wells. Library of Mrs. Morris Hawkes, New York; her gift.

Content : De Ricci, 1686 and Supplement, 329. Chart by Dr. G.B. Guest. Library dossier.

Content : Folio 70 is only a stub; there are 69 full folios. Eight quires of eight folios each, and one of six.

Content : 30 lines in 2 columns, ruled in pencil, with prickings, catchwords and quire numbers visible.

Content : Figures (partially obscured) in large opening initial; border design on f. 1 includes grotesques.

Content : 9-line opening initial in red, blue, gold on lozenge background. Red and blue border designs. 2-line blue and gold initials, extending into border, with opposing color penwork.

Content: This is the only manuscript preserving the text of this 14th century French romance. The text on f. 70r-v seems to lack the decoration and verse structure of other folios, therefore may possibly not be part of main text.
