Content: Author portrait f. 2v. Border of title page inlcudes a bird.
Content: Each page of octonaries (except f. 4) decorated with painted flowers and fruit. Painted border with flowers around title page. Black initials throughout.
Content: Esther Inglis (1571-1624)
Content: Manuscript is dated (ff. 1 and 2) 1 January 1609. Some notes in dossier place it in England; other notes and Dictionary Catalog in Edinburgh. The dating clause on f. 2 reads: "Willingall Spayne, Ian. 1, 1609."
Content: Esther Inglis was the daugher of Huguenots who fled France in 1574. She married Bartholomew Kello, a clerk, in or around 1596. She used the name Esther Anglois, Francoise, until 1504, and thereafter, Esther Inglis.
