Description
Manuscript poem (fragment) written in ink and revised in both ink and pencil on a scrap of white paper, 1855 or earlier. Draft of lines 20 –21 of the eleventh poem in the 1855 edition of Leaves of Grass (final title of poem: "Who Learns My Lessons Complete?") Text cancelled by Whitman with a vertical stroke. On the verso: Loveaxles; manuscript note written in ink and pencil on a scrap of white paper, undated. In Volume III of: Walt Whitman. Holograph manuscript fragments assembled by Dr. Richard Maurice Bucke.
