Content: Printed on border: "On the day following the battle the Mexican general was captured in the uniform of a private soldier and was brought before General Sam Houston, who had been wounded in the engagement. 'I am General Lopez de Santa Anna,' he exclaimed, 'a prisoner of war at your disposal. You can afford to be generous ; you have captured the Napoleon of the West.' Conspicuous in the foreground of the picture is 'Deaf' Smith, the famous Indian spy." Illegible print at lower right of image.
