Content : Printed on border: "Senator Morrill, of Maine, who earnestly worked for the passage of the Civil Rights Bill, which gives to negroes the entrée of churches and schools, went into a colored people's church in Washington on Sunday night, and was told by one of the black dignitaries that the church was for colored persons, and that they wanted no white folks there. So he left." Written on border: "June 20, 1874." Foxing on image.
