Content: Printed on border: "Attorney-General D. J. Caldwell, the prosecutor ; Judge J. E. Jones, presiding at the trial ; Hon. R. A. Pierce, chief counsel for the defence ; The Lake County posse at Camp Nemo. Judge Harris, owner of Reelfoot Lake, is seated in the front row between his sisters ; Tid Burton, on trial as a leader of the night riders ; Three prominent prisoners being escorted through the town of Union City, Tennessee, under military guard. They had been brought in from Camp Nemo ; Frank Ferriner, night rider and star witness for the prosecution ; Habeas corpus proceedings held before Judge Jones. Attorney-General Caldwell is in the centre with his eyeglasses showing against his waistcoat ; The trial jury for the cases of the night riders charged with the murder of Captain Rankin at Reelfoot Lake." Written on border: "Jan. 16, 1909" Image torn.
