Content: Printed on border: "From which the guides of the flanking detachment of the British were taken." Written on border: "Howard Halfway House, Atlantic & Alabama Avenue, East Brooklyn, destroyed 1902. Proprietor, coerced by Gen. Howe's forces, guided them to hill overlooking unguarded Jamaica Pass, making possible flanking maneuver that decided the Battle of Long Island in favor of the British, 1776."
