Content: Printed on border: "The age of hand-books. 'This is most distressing! All my symptoms, as described in this book, 'Doctor dispensed with; or, every man his own physicain,' show that I have got either heart disease, chronic dyspepsia, or St. Vitus's dance; but I'm hanged if I can make out which one it is!' " "When a skater breaks through the ice, run for help to the nearest house, even if it is a mile and a quarter away ; When a child bumps its head, scream as loud as possible ; When a lady faints, pour plenty of water over her ; When anyone is hurt in the street, crowd around as closely as possible, to prevent any air from reaching the sufferer."
