Content: Printed on border: "in fact be said to be rather too large, for at its lower extremity it is hard to think of it as a lake at all. It is thirty-seven miles in length, an opens out to a width of about fifteen miles between Peschiera and Desenzano, and is exposed to almost constant winds. The slight feeling of disappointment, caused by the too great expanse of water and the flatness of the land round the southern end of the lake, passes away as the steamer passes Cape San Vigilio and takes us toward Riva, at the upper extremity, where a visitor for the first time might be surprised to find himself on the soil of..."
