Content: Ganymede was a Trojan youth so beautiful that Zeus came down in the form of an eagle or sent an eagle to carry Ganymede to Mount Olympus, where he became cupbearer to the gods.
Content: Sculpture of Ganymede and the eagle, now in the Vatican, is thought to be a Roman copy of a lost work by the Greek sculptor Leochares.
