Content: The artist has shown the man at the center of the picture behind Jesus holding a fork, but forks did not come into widespread use until the 800s A.D.
Content: The scene shows Jesus blessing the woman who used a jar of precious ointment to wash his feet before drying them with her hair. The Pharisee host of the banquet objected to the woman's low status, and the disciple Peter questioned what she did, but Jesus praised her with the words quoted in the text. (Luke 7:37-50)
