Content: Page contains one whole and three partial illustrations. Three are labeled with numbers. Written below main illustration: "[1.] Black figured Attic cylix. Athena between two warriors. 3. Archaic Corinthian cylix. 4. Black figured late Attic cylix."
Content: The eyes ("oculi") on the cup in the main illustration resemble those painted on the bows of ancient Greek warships. Athena may be intervening to stop the battle or, as the goddess of righteous war, helping one of the fighters. A swan-like bird is depicted on the vessel at the lower left, while a pair of warriors are fighting with spear and shield on the bowl on the lower right.
