DescriptionRepresentation of a dancing couple dressed in the neoclassical fashions of the post-revolutionary Directoire period in France (1795-1799). They are posed side-by-side, each stepping forward on the left foot with the right foot slightly elevated behind. The woman's left arm and the man's right arm are raised and joined to form an oval between them; their opposite hands are joined behind them.
