Content: The frontispiece, the 28 plates engraved on wood, and the 7 steel plates are printed on india paper (chine appliqué) and mounted. Plates and ca. 350 ill. in the text after Meissonier, T. Johannot, Français, Marville, Huet, Steinhell, Delaberge, Isabey, Jacques, Dufour and Laffitte.
