Description
An unidentified instructor in a rehearsal room in the Merce Cunningham Dance Company's space at Westbeth, leads a workshop in the use of Dance Forms 1.0. the software utilized by Merce Cunningham in later years to create choreography. The students seem to be dancers, though this is not made clear. The instructor explains the use of the program, making several observations regarding Cunningham's use of Dance Forms and his way of using the software as an extension of his own creative process. The students, split into two groups, use the software to create body movements partially determined by random throws of a set of dice, producing a version of the 'chance transformations' found in Cunningham's pieces. They then create choreographic movements using the figures created by each other's groups.
