Description
Documentary on the Capitol Ballet Company of Washington, D.C., and its fountainhead, the Jones-Haywood School of Ballet, narrated by their founders, Doris Jones and Claire Haywood. Rehearsal and performance excerpts from ballet, tap, and jazz dance works presented by children and young adults at a recital at Washington's Lisner Auditorium are interspersed with scenes of classes and studio rehearsals. Sandra Fortune, a rising young dancer trained by the School, is seen in excerpts from the Black swan pas de deux. Jones and Haywood discuss how racism has affected their careers and the operations of their school and company.
