The interview is sprinkled with anecdotes from the lives of Gershwin ("bad student, but natural talent"), Berlin ("best songwriter" with "unique inner ear"), Vincent Youmans ("who could not play music just like Berlin"), Kern, Ira Gershwin, Oscar Hammerstein ("talented lyricist and reserved person"), Porter, and Harry Ruby.
