Description
Dancer-choreographer Anna Halprin discusses the teaching of dance with her former teacher, renowned dance educator Margaret H'Doubler. They explore not only the functions of specific movement exercises (for example, working with gravity or breath) but the broader philosophy of teaching, studying, and performing dance. Among the many topics they discuss are the subjective and objective experiences of the body; emotion and movement; the dancer's role as her own creator, audience, and critic; the craftsmanship of dancing; Halprin's ability to perceive students' energy fields and help them release blockages; integrating one's own experience in dance with one's personal growth. The recording ends abruptly before the conversation is concluded.
