CONTENTS. - 1) The New Year's sacrifice (complete ballet) (110 min.) Choreography: Jiang Zu-hui. Music: Liu Ting-yu. Ballet depicting the tragic lot of a Chinese woman in China's old feudal society. A widow, forced to remarry, finds true love briefly but then, widowed once again, must end her life as a lonely maidservant. The role of the heroine, Xiang Lin's widow, is danced by Yu Lei-di. - Final 5 min. of The New Year's sacrifice -- 2) Liang Shan-be and Zhu Ying-tai (The butterfly lovers) (ca. 25 min.) The story of Liang, a young man from a poor family who dies of a broken heart when he cannot marry Zhu, a young woman from a rich family. She follows him into the grave where they are united as a pair of butterflies. 3) Excerpt from The maid of the sea: The red coral dance. (ca. 5 min.) 4) Three preludes (ca. 10 min.) Choreography: Ben Stevenson. Music: Sergei Rakhmaninov. Performed by Chen Bin and Ying Ren-sheng.
