Notes
Content: A "Standarte" was an SS regiment. The SS had a system of ranks equivalent to those in the German Army, but with different names. The Feldherrnhalle was a war memorial in Munich. It was important to the Nazis because the street battle with government forces which ended Hitler's 1923 revolution attempt took place in front of the building. The S.A. (Sturm Abteilung="Storm detachment") were the Brownshirts or "Storm Troopers", now much reduced in numbers and influence after Hitler's purge of them in 1934.
