Description
Design for an architectural decoration, incorporating a roundel flanked by fish-like sea monsters. Within the roundel are three masked figures dancing in a barren landscape. The leftmost figure is a male dwarf, possibly a jester, carrying a torch and a sceptre decorated with a head. The man at center plays a tambourine as he dances. His patterned garment may be intended to represent an animal skin. The figure at right may be a woman or a man in travesti; he or she wears a skirt cut in multiple panels, baring his/her left knee in movement. At far right, a domed tent or pavilion is visible in the middle distance.
