Description
An engraving commemorating a ball given by the "king and queen" of the city of Paris, January 23, 1782, in honor of the Dauphin and Marie Antoinette. Dancers, some masked and in commedia dell'arte attire, mill about, probably in the great ballroom of the Hotel de Ville, Paris. Musicians play on a raised platform in the background and guests look down from a balcony.
