Description
Representation of a moment from Act I, scene 1 of Joseph Mazilier's ballet Paquita. The Gypsy chief Inigo (Georges Élie) has inadvertently drunk a glass of drugged wine intended for his rival, the young officer Lucien (Lucien Petipa), who looks on in amazement. The Gypsy girl Paquita (Carlotta Grisi), who loves Lucien, sends him a silent signal.
