Leida Snow records five brief announcements about the 37th Annual Tony Awards nomineesfor the ABC News radio program, including the 1982 Broadway production of the musical "Cats" (composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on "Old possum's book of practical cats" by T. S. Eliot, produced by Cameron Mackintosh; nominated for 11 Tonys); the 1983 production of the musical "Merlin" (based on a concept by Doug Henning and Barbara De Angelis, written by Richard Levinson and William Link, with music (and incidental music) by Elmer Bernstein, and lyrics by Don Black) (1st piece); the 1983 Broadway production of the musical "My one and only" (with a book by Peter Stone and Timothy S. Mayer, and music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin) (2nd piece); the revival of the production of the play "All's well that ends well" by William Shakespeare (7 nominations) (4th piece); and "Brighton beach memoirs," a semi-autobiographical play by Neil Simon (5th piece). Snow also names the hosts of the ceremony: Richard Burton, Lena Horne, and Jack Lemmon (3rd piece). An excerpt from the recording of the song "Memory" from the musical "Cats" is played at the beginning of the program.
