Collection contains 15 original set designs and 1 costume design by various designers for musicals by Richard Rodgers, owned by his daughter, Mary Rodgers Guettel.Set designs by Jo Mielziner for productions include Allegro (1947), Carousel (1945), The king and I (1951), Me and Juliet (1953), On your toes (1936), Pal Joey (1940), Pipe dream (1955), and South Pacific (1949); other set designs are Do I hear a waltz? by Beni Montresor (1965), I remember Mama by George Jenkins (1944), Oklahoma! by Lemuel Ayers (1943). There is also 1 costume design by Motley for South Pacific (1949).

Biographical/historical: Composer, author and screenwriter Mary Rodgers Guettel (1931-2014) was the elder daughter of composer Richard Rodgers. Her works include the musical Once upon a mattress (1959), The Mad Show (1966) and the children's book and movie Freaky Friday (1972; 1976 and 2003). The mother of 5 children, Guettel also served as chair of the Juilliard School board from 1994 to 2001, as well as serving on the Dramatists Guild Council, the board of ASCAP and other organizations. She died of heart failure at age 83.
