Biographical/historical: Alberto Giacometti- the sculptor, comes from the Italian-speaking corner of Switzerland. Before the war he was working on abstract forms; some of these became decorative accessories in the shop of Jean Michel Frank. Now his works tend to become more human, and he is intrigued with the miniature statues shown in the photograph. His post-war work will be exhibited shortly in Paris and in Prague.
