This collection of letters and telegrams documents the response from Arturo Toscanini's decision not to conduct at the 1938 Salzburg Festival. Included is a draft of Toscanini's original telegram to the Salzburg Festival informing them of his refusal to conduct at the 1938 festival. The collection was donated by the Toscanini heirs in the early 1970s.
