Content: Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi (1834-1904) was an Alsatian sculptor known for his monumental works on patriotic and republican themes. His most famous creation is the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor. The statue, dedicated in 1886, was a gift to the U.S. from the French people.
