Twenty-one portraits engraved by Christoffel van Sichem, the elder, mostly after his own designs, with 3 after J. C. van 't Woudt, all of which, in turn, were based on or copied from earlier prints. Two of the additional 4 portraits issued separately ca. 1609. Each portrait has a 1-line caption.
Biographical/historical: First published in book form, with text, in 1608, in German, and separately in Dutch. A Latin ed. published 1609. Seventeen of the engravings first issued in 1606 as a portfolio of portraits, each accompanied by biographical text. First issued without text in 1607.
