Charles Carroll's letterbook features frequent references to tobacco, e.g.: p. [95] dated June 4, 1775: "If you had not sold my Potowmack Tobo. before the news of the battle near Boston got to London I imagine you have just sold it to a great advantage." Includes copies of invoices and business and some personal letters addressed from Annapolis or Baltimore to various correspondents in America and abroad.
