Description
Charles Carroll's letterbook features frequent references to tobacco, e.g.: p. [95] dated June 4, 1775: "If you had not sold my Potowmack Tobo. before the news of the battle near Boston got to London I imagine you have just sold it to a great advantage." Includes copies of invoices and business and some personal letters addressed from Annapolis or Baltimore to various correspondents in America and abroad. Copies of several letters from the executors of Carroll's estate can be found at the end.
