Edgar Allen Poe's narrative poem, "The Raven," was first published in "The American Review" in February 1845, four years before Poe's death. Its immediate success prompted Wiley and Putnam to produce both "Tales," a collection of Poe's prose writing, and "The Raven and Other Poems."
