Content: Filmed in wide shot.
Venue: Videotaped in dress rehearsal in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on June 27, 1996.
Biographical/historical: Ocean was originally conceived by Merce Cunningham and John Cage, based on the writings of James Joyce. It was completed after Cage's death with music by Andrew Culver and David Tudor, based on Cage's ideas. It premiered at the Cirque Royal, Belgium, May 18, 1994.

The rehearsal of Ocean lasts approximately 90 min. The remainder of the video features footage of the musicians who performed the score for Ocean, and Merce Cunningham giving comments to the dancers.
