Description
Yvonne Rainer discusses Judson Dance Theater and her role in it with a mention of Steve Paxton and Jimmy Waring; the juxtaposition of pedestrian movement and the grandiose music of Berlioz in her work, We Shall Run; talk about Rainer's new work, Assisted Living: Do You Have Any Money?, where the title came from, and some of the movement being derived from earier works; radical juxtaposition and how she thinks about the effectiveness of what she creates in the studio; the critic Deborah Jowitt commenting on Rainer's work, Assisted Living: Good Sports 2; how the latest work incorporates some Laurel and Hardy pantomime, and how the stories are destabilizing; the importance of repetition in Rainer's work; and concludes with a question and answer session.
