Image depicts a scene from an 18th century French production of the ballet Psyché. Eight dancers, all female, (half women, half seemingly younger girls), appear in two lines on stage; they wear décolloté gowns adorned with flowers. The celestial stage décor behind the dancers features a godlike king positioned in the center beside an eagle, surrounded by numerous human figures among the clouds.
