Description
Part 1. Leida Snow interviews Julie Harris, American stage, screen, and television actress. Harris talks about her career in film, television, and theatre, and various roles she played, such as the role of the Danish baroness, Karen Blixen, in "Lucifer's child,” who under the pen name Isak Dinesen, wrote the shimmering autobiography "Out of Africa" and "Seven Gothic tales." Harris also discusses about how she commissioned playwright William Luce to write "The belle of Amherst" and "The solo play" for her to perform. She speaks about other roles that she commissioned for her as one-woman performances, on remarkable women, from Emily Dickinson to Charlotte Bronte to Sonia Tolstoy, and took them on the road to colleges, cities small and large, as well as, sometimes even to Broadway. She also discusses her personal life, her influences, and her relationships with her friends and colleagues within the business. Part 2. News conference about actor Jonathan Pryce's casting in a Eurasian role in the stage musical “Miss Saigon.” Pryce, who performed in the show in London, was initially barred from appearing in the Broadway production by Actors' Equity Association. (AEA later reversed the decision).
