Abstract
Carson, a press agent of many prominent musicians, and Shear, interview Kim, a violinist, probably as a potential client. After going over the details of Kim's childhood in Seoul, Korea, his early education and exposure to music, admittance at an early age of 13 to the Curtis School of Music under the advice of the pianist Rudolf Serkin and years studying with Ivan Galamian, a well-known violin teacher, the conversation focuses on Kim's career that came to a standstill due to his intense performing in Europe, lack of guidance and consequently motivation, loss of direction, and disappointment at foregoing a more profound learning and practice as a sacrifice to keeping a hectic and busy performance schedule that included collaboration with Yo-Yo Ma, Emmanuel Ax, Leonard Burnstein, Michael Tilson Thomas, and many other established musicians and orchestras.
