Abstract

Reproductive print after Giulio Romano's fresco, approximately 1540, in the Galleria Palatina of the Palazzo Pitti, Firenze. The Greek god Apollo, with his bow and quiver of arrows, dances in a circle with the nine Muses, whose names are written in Greek characters on a scroll at bottom. Terpsichore, the Muse of the dance, appears to the left of Apollo, with her back to the viewer.
