Description
Interview with Susse Wold conducted by John Gruen on July 16, 1977, in Copenhagen, Denmark, as research for his book Erik Bruhn: danseur noble (Viking Press, New York, 1979). A third person, who is not identified, is present but does not participate materially in the conversation. Streaming audio file 1 (approximately 48 minutes). Susse Wold speaks with John Gruen about her background and career; meeting Erik Bruhn at a party and their subsequent written correspondence; Bruhn as an actor; their friendship; his ulcer and his surgeries; performing with Bruhn in the play Rashomon; his personality including an anecdote about a visit to New York City with Bruhn and his longtime housekeeper, Ella Schram [ends abruptly but continues on streaming audio file 2]. Streaming audio file 2 (approximately 4 minutes). Susse Wold continues to speak with John Gruen about Erik Bruhn's personality.
