Interview with Barbara Page Beiswanger conducted by Theodora Wiesner for the archives of the Dance Division of AAHPER [American Association for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation; later American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance] on February 10, 1975 in Atlanta, Georgia (streaming audio file 1; ends at approximately 36:00). The second part of the recording (streaming audio file 2) consists of Wiesner's reading aloud the draft of an article by Beiswanger entitled: The National Section on Dance: the first 10 years. The article, as edited, appeared in the Journal of Heath, Physical Education and Recreation, 31 (5), May-June, 1960, pp. 23-25; 66. Streaming audio file 1 (approximately 47 minutes; however, the interview ends at approximately 36:00, and the remaining approximate ten minutes consists of ambient noise.). Barbara Page Beiswanger speaks with Theodora Wiesner about the beginnings of her career in dance; her time as a teacher at Ohio Wesleyan University; marrying and moving with her husband to teach at Monticello College; the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance convention; continuing her professional and academic education; teaching at the Georgia State College for Women and establishing a dance club; retiring but remaining involved with dance; her activities with the National Dance section of the AAHPR [American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance] including her encounter with racial discrimination; the influence of Margaret H'Doubler; Martha Hill; performing in Doris Humphrey's work Passacaglia [and fugue in C minor]. Streaming audio file 2 (approximately 30 minutes). Theodora Wiesner reads aloud the draft of Barbara Page Beiswanger's article entitled: The National Section on Dance: its first 10 years.
