Biographical/historical: The folk dance called the saltarello became popular in Rome during the 18th century, spreading to other regions of Italy. It was danced in 3/4 or 6/8 time by a solo performer or a couple, and featured rapid hopping steps in a semicircle, accompanied by lively arm movements.
Biographical/historical: Bartolomeo Pinelli, an Italian printmaker, illustrator, painter, and sculptor, frequently depicted scenes of contemporary Roman life in his prints.
