Abstract

Tuckwell, the world's leading horn player, the host of the program, and fellow colleagues Paul Myers (record producer), Terry Morton (London Symphony Orchestra violinist), Richard Hickox (conductor), Thea Musgrave (Scottish composer) and associates elaborate on the evolvement of Tuckwell's career as an orchestra musician in his native country Australia to relocation to England and establishing a vocation as a solo player. The focus of the program is the particularities and intricacies of horn music, horn playing, a number of composers and some specific music works written for the horn (Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings by Britten and Concerto for horn and orchestra by Holloway). Very brief excerpts are performed in order to accentuate the discourse.
