Abstract
This recording contains two episodes of "The Originals," a program exploring distinguished people in performing arts presented by Moses Znaimer. In the first, responding to off-camera unheard questions, Leonard Cohen shares his views on drugs, religion, ethics, life, humanity, society, and reveals the sources for his inspirations, feelings and emotions that made him a novelist, poet, performer and songwriter. In the second program, conducted in the same manner, George Melly, an English jazz and blues singer, critic, writer and lecturer, discusses his attraction to jazz, the birth and influence of jazz in England, the allure of jazz musicians, the necessity to project a certain image, the sacrifice of artists, and his philosophic views on life and death.
