Description
Betty Comden, one-half of the musical-comedy duo Comden and Green, who provided lyrics, libretti, and screenplays to successful Hollywood musicals and Broadway shows, discusses the difference between writing songs and shows; her teamwork with Green; their collaboration with leading entertainment figures and composers such as Jule Styne, Leonard Bernstein, and Morton Gould; the formation of the troupe called the Revuers that included Comden, actress Judy Holliday, Leonard Bernstein and Green; the famous shows and movies for which they wrote (Singin' in the Rain, On the town, The band wagon, Wonderful town, and a few ohers); their hard work in Hollywood; the reason they started writing; the diversity of Bernstein as a composer; and other related stories. The recording includes a five minute commentary Wilk makes in order to follow up on his conversation with Irving Berlin.
